Commitment

By participating in a tournament, you commit to the following:

  • Making yourself available
    • The tournaments are designed to give working adults the flexibility of playing tennis while still carrying on with their regular day to day activities.
Just like you, all other participants value their time. And so be respectful of that and make yourself available to play the matches within the designated deadlines.
  • Communicate
    • Once you know your opponent(s), it is totally up to you (and your opponent) to schedule and play your match by the designated deadline.
Engage in communication with your opponent(s) to schedule and play your matches.
  • Be on time
    • Be respectful of the time agreed for the match. If you arrive 15 min late, the match can be considered a default at your opponent’s discretion.
  • Practice good sportsmanship
    • We are all here to have fun. Any form of bad conduct will be reported and can lead to players being dropped from the group and future tournaments.

Tournament rounds and schedules

  • Each tournament round has a predefined number of days in which all matches must be completed.
  • Matches are to be scheduled at the discretion of the players involved, but must be completed by the Round scheduled deadlines.
  • To be respectful of everyone else and avoid tournament dates going over, deadlines must be followed and won’t be extended. Only in the event of major situations, such as a hurricane, deadlines will be extended.
  • If a match is not played within the round schedule, the possible match outcomes are as follows:
    • If Player A has been trying to communicate with Player B and Player B has been unresponsive, or cancelled on an already scheduled match, Player A must let the admin know of the situation and Player A will get the win.
    • If both Players have made the attempt to scheduled and play the match but it couldn’t be played for other reasons, one of the players must let the admin know of the situation and the match outcome will be decided by coin toss.
    • IMPORTANT: If neither of the above scenarios is reported to the admin on an unplayed match, that shows that neither player made the attempt to schedule and play the match. In that event, the match will be cancelled and both players will take the Loss.
  • For the tournament Group Stages, group position is decided using the following criteria:
    1. Number of wins.
    2. Head to head win.
    3. Sets win/loss difference (only applied when criteria 1 and 2 is tied between 3 or more players).
    4. Games win/loss difference (only applied when criteria 1, 2, and 3 is tied between 3 or more players).
      • If 2 out of the 3 or more players are tied in Games win/loss difference, then it goes back to their head to head win.
  • If a player leaves the tournament having played less than 50% of their Group matches, then a Walk Over result will be given for ALL the player’s group matches.
    • This prevents a situation in which 1 player loses to the player dropping out of the tournament, and then all other players in the group get an unfair advantage by getting a WO win.
    • In the event the player dropping out of the tournament wins their only match played, they will still earn Ranking Points for that win.
